Brownlee looks for answers

Republican attorney general candidate John Brownlee's campaign says it will seek an investigation of automated phone calls attacking Brownlee.

Brownlee's campaign says the calls were made to delegates attending the Republican state convention this weekend in Richmond. Delegates will choose the GOP's nominee for attorney general and other offices.

Brownlee's campaign says the calls violate state law because there's no disclaimer indicating who paid for or authorized them. The campaign says it will ask law enforcement agencies to investigate the calls. See More at NBC-29

Augusta BOS gives green light to new shopping center

A major hurdle for the largest commercial development ever in Augusta County was cleared Wednesday when supervisors voted 7-0 to approve rezoning from agriculture to business for Augusta Marketplace.

The 135-acre development, when built starting in 2011 by the Northern Virginia firm of Pence Friedel, would contribute nearly a million square feet of retail development, a 180-room hotel and amenities such as big box stores and a movie theater off Interstate 81 and Route 262 near Verona.
