A Prince William County school leader has been named Virginia's middle school principal of the year.
Benita Stephens of Potomac Middle School in Dumfries received the honor from the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals.
Stephens, an Atlanta native, has been a principal for eight years and an administrator for 14.
She opened the 1,100-student Potomac Middle School three years ago.
