FDNY comes to Valley to honor a young man who dreamed of being a hero

Several New York City firefighters came to the Valley Friday night because of one local teenager.
Roy Smith III, a fallen McGaheysville volunteer firefighter, dressed up as a Fire Department of New York fireman for his homecoming just months before he died in a car crash in November 2008.His friends and fellow firemen say, even up until the day Smith passed away, he talked about his dreams of becoming a New York City firefighter.

I know many members of FDNY, including my brother-in-law.

Policemen joke that God made policemen so firemen could have heroes too, but I have to admit that job is stocked full of heroes. Here is a list of some of this years FDNY heroes
God Bless our firefighters.

And my prayers to the family of Roy Smith III.

The FDNY is invovled in the fight against terrorism.
